WINTER WEATHER TIPS

-
Add the following supplies to your emergency kit: rock salt to melt on walkways, sand to improve traction, snow shovels and other snow-removal equipment, sufficient heating fuel and a good supply of dry, seasoned wood for your fireplace or wood-burning stove, adequate clothing and blankets to keep you warm.
-
Because of the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning, never use an electric generator indoors, inside the garage or near the air intake of your home.
-
Keep a week’s worth of non-perishable food on hand.
-
Keep a water supply. Extreme cold can cause water pipes in your home to freeze and sometimes break.
-
Bring pets inside during winter weather. Move other animals or livestock to sheltered areas with non-frozen drinking water.
